hey dan i have some questions for you pertaining to another site i use, the website for my larp. They use the same forum system we use and they are looking for a way to put up their older fourms on the new ones from a backup they have. the old ones are on a older version of phpBB and i mentioned that you are a skill web admin and i would ask you about it. please talk to me about it

First, install the version of phpbb the backup came from. Then, upgrade it to the version your new forum is currently running (as described at http://www.phpbb.com/community/docs/INS ... ml#convert ). This will get the databases in the same format, which is important.

Then you do, well, this: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... &t=1917165

It's a long, involved process with lots of raw sql. Not for the faint of heart, but doable.
